Fanny by Calum Finlay at King's Head Theatre

A new comedy arrives at The King’s Head Theatre this autumn. Fanny by Calum Finlay, a witty and uplifting play celebrating the overlooked genius of Fanny Mendelssohn, sister to the renowned composer Felix Mendelssohn.

You may know Felix for nineteenth-century favourites such as The Wedding March. He was so admired that Queen Victoria requested a private concert and sang one of her favourite pieces, Italien. The twist? It wasn’t written by Felix at all. The music was Fanny’s quietly published under her brother’s name.

When Fanny intercepts a letter inviting Felix to premiere a new orchestral piece for the Queen, she decides to take her chance and step into the spotlight herself.

Starring Charlie Russell (Mischief’s The Play That Goes Wrong) and fresh from a successful run at The Watermill Theatre, Fanny is a joyful story of ambition, talent, and taking your moment.

As part of the N1 Membership Performances, you can enjoy £10 preview tickets, making it the perfect opportunity to experience top-quality theatre right on your doorstep.

Don’t miss this warm, sharp and beautifully performed production at one of Islington’s most distinctive theatres.
